About Orange Sky

Orange Sky is a not-for-profit organisation providing a free  mobile laundry and shower service to people experiencing homelessness. We offer a platform for everyday Australians and New Zealanders to connect by creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community. 


We currently operate 36 services across 25 locations in Australia, and three services across two locations in New Zealand. There are 116,000 Australians and 41,600 Kiwis experiencing homelessness, and we’re on a mission to positively connect these communities through clean clothes, warm showers, and genuine, non-judgemental conversation.  We’re driven, dedicated, insanely ambitious and a little unconventional. We take our work seriously, but have plenty of fun along the way. We work hard and ‘get it done’, but always make time to celebrate each other’s success.



The Role

We’re always looking to increase our impact and help our remote communities, striving to continually improve is in our DNA at Orange Sky. This role is a key member of our Operations team, and vital to the smooth operation and improvement of services in remote & indigenous communities across Australia.


No day is ever the same, so the ideal applicant will thrive in a dynamic environment - we need someone who knows how to have lots of balls in the air that can’t be dropped, can think on the fly, get their hands dirty and get creative to make things happen.


In a nutshell, this role is responsible for:


  • Developing and managing remote and indigenous service systems, processes and procedures
  • Applying a project management approach to lead the provision of existing and future remote and indigenous service projects
  • Assisting with responding to incidents and resolution in a timely manner
  • Liaising with remote staff, service providers and contractors to facilitate continuity of service
  • Assisting with inventory management tasks including ordering, dispatch, stocktakes and reporting.

Our perfect fit is go-getting, proactive and experienced in providing excellent customer and client support. We’re looking for someone with proven similar experience within a fast-paced, innovative organisation with lots of moving parts. You’ll be methodical and systems-oriented with a focus on building efficient and sustainable programs.


Additionally, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values, and ways of doing business.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Proven ability to employ interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal), critical thinking problem solving skills in the work environment and to support others to problem solve challenging situations and issues.
  • Tenacious problem-solving ability, and desire to maximise OS remote service operations
  • A current Drivers License
  • Be able to travel for extended periods to remote communities both as a team and independently
  • Preferably identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
